You should not wear the same pair of shoes day in, day out, without a break.

• Before applying any shoe polish or shining leather shoes, you must clean them carefully to prevent dust particles or earth from remaining on the leather and scratching it. If the shoe is just dusty or a little dirty, all you need is a dry cloth or a soft brush to clean it.

• Never dry shoes, be they leather or not, near sources of intense heat such as clothes dryers, heaters, ovens or in the sun. High temperatures and attempts to accelerate the drying process will damage the leather, causing it to harden and breaking the grain (the outermost layer of leather) due to loss of flexibility. Shoes should ideally be dried at room temperature.
